Unforgettable Adventures in Korea: Exploring Busan and Seoul with My Family

Written by CEO

1st year at Chulalongkorn University

Before starting my first semester at university, I embarked on a memorable trip with my family. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it had been three years since my last trip with my grandparents, making this Korea trip even more special. Having visited Korea since I was nine years old, I witnessed numerous improvements over the years. This trip holds a special place in my heart as it represents cherished memories and experiences with my family.

During the first three days in South Korea, I explored Busan, a city where the sea and mountains coexist harmoniously. With 70% of the country being mountainous, the scenery was breathtaking. On the first day, I visited Gamcheon village, situated on a mountain. This village was established during the South-North Korea war when people living near the parallel line had to relocate to a safer area. The second day took me to the fish market and Guanyin Shrine, both located near the sea. The grilled fish and octopus at the fish market were definite highlights.

In Seoul, my family and I stayed in a hotel situated on Hongdae Street, known as a shopping haven comparable to Thailand's Siam. This vibrant street offered a plethora of shopping landmarks and delectable street food. On the first day in Seoul, I savored a delicious BBQ meal at Myeongdong Street. Throughout our time in Seoul, we relied on public transportation, which proved faster than using private vehicles. On the second day, I visited the Bukchon Hanok Village, which had been featured in Korean dramas. I even dressed up as a king from Korean history, embracing the village's charm. Lastly, I spent the final day indulging in shopping at the Lotte duty-free mall, where Korean-made goods were priced attractively, particularly cosmetics.

Despite getting lost in the subway station on my first day in Seoul, the trip was an enjoyable challenge as I took care of my grandparents and meticulously planned our activities to minimize excessive walking. Throughout the six-day trip, I cherished every moment and each place, knowing they would forever hold a special place in my memory. When traveling to other countries, I strive to immerse myself in local culture, observing how people truly live. It always leaves me wondering why Korea, despite being a developing country in Eastern Asia, boasts such a high quality of life.

Overall, my family trip to Korea was a wonderful adventure that deepened my appreciation for different cultures and created lasting memories.
