Chasing Labubu: A Collector's Quest from Lamp to Kaiju

For the last three months, my hobby has been collecting Labubu figures. Labubu is a character created by a Hong Kong artist named Kasing Lung. When he was six years old, his family moved to the Netherlands. I like Labubu because I enjoy collecting them, and opening them gives me hope of finding a secret figure. This hobby makes me happy because my family and I started with just one figure and kept collecting more, and now I have 100 Labubu figures.

Labubu are elves who live in the forest with their friends. Labubu has 9 teeth and a smile. When Kasing Lung lived in the Netherlands, he drew inspiration from Scandinavian culture, which features special animals in stories. I started collecting Labubu because my mom got a Labubu hidden in a lamp from Popmart and then a Labubu hidden in a spray can. Next, she got a Labubu kaiju, and I started liking this character. I bought more Labubu figures, like fruit candy, constellations, space mak, and animals. My dad enjoys making a box to collect them, which makes no one want to stop buying them.

My Labubu collection started with a Labubu hidden in a lamp. Then my mom bought a Labubu hidden in a spray can. Later, my mom’s friend bought “The Monster Space Adventure” for my mom and me, and we got seven Labubu figures from this box. Next came a Labubu raccoon and squirrel, a Labubu hidden in a mailbox, and one hidden in a spotlight. After that, I got Labubu constellations, fruit, candy, other hidden figures, animals, kaiju, mak, and other collections. I got to meet other collectors when I bought Labubu constellations, and we talked about Labubu and other art toys.

Collecting Labubu makes my life better because it is fun and makes me happy. I enjoy getting more Labubu for my collection. I find them on the Internet and in the shop at Mega Plaza, compare prices, and buy them. Every time I buy a box, I hope to get a secret figure, but so far, I haven’t gotten one. However, I still hope to get one in the future. For now, I need to find more space for my Labubu collection too.
